i bought my car in sept from a dealer. about 2 months later i lost 3rd gear. it never made any noise, no grinds just one day couldnt get into 3rd because it would grind so bad. i kept driving the car because every other gear was fine and i didnt have the money to build a trans at the time.

well i found a good deal on a built trans but the guy backed out and sent my deposit back. then a few days later i was driving and the car got stuck in 4th. got it to come out and put it in 2nd to limp home. so i found a friend selling a trans he just took out of his car to do an autoswap. nothing wrong with the trans he just wanted the auto.

so i picked that trans up last week and installed it this week. drove it thursday night for about 10 miles. then parked it to install my vararam. finished up the vararam friday night.

then we took the car to go to dinner, left dinner drove around and everything was fine. stopped at a friends house and when we were heading home i raced a friends cobra. i was taking it easy on the shifts because i didnt want to rip on it to much yet.

ended the race in 4th [ ahead by 4 cars ] and went to shift to 6th while slowing down and it was stuck in 4th again. i cant believe it. my original trans had 34k when it broke. this trans has 44k on it. could it be something else with my drivetrain that is causing this. clutch problems? TT? or is this just a complete coincidence?

btw filled the new trans with mobil 1 syn atf
