I have a 99 coupe with a automatic when to put it in park and the car keep rolling so I guess my tranny cable must of become disengage or broke off the tranny nut or where it mounts my question is can I get my arm up in there to pull it into park start the car and then put into another gear like drive to get her home?
This kit might work if my problem is like the one described here/link
Been there 3 weeks ago. To get under the car you'll have to raise her. I can't see how you reach the transmission lever with her down. Maybe if you're really thin, and i mean REALLY. Anyway, if you're able to do it, take good care to block off the wheels, or have someone you trust pushing on the brake pedal (usally not the one who'll have the insurance...)
Thanks i guess I will take my jack and wheel chokes and see if I can move the shift lever to park to get it started and then re jack it up to move it to drive. I take it park would be moving the lever toward the front?
In my case, i've been able to put back the end of the cable on the transmission bracket/lever and it stays there without the clip. So i've able to drive the car to my brother in law's garage to get her on the lift (bringing my 4 hockey puck). Maybe it'll work for you.
Thanks for the help I ordered this part for my transmission cable. the clip that goes bad or falls off will never happen again and you don't need to remove tunnel or h-pipe just remove bracket and put this part on and walla your done it should last the life of the car.
