What do you guys think? Thinking about converting my 04 Z06 to a convertible. My wife drives an 01 coupe but I really miss my vert. Found the parts to do the conversion for about $1200.
How big of a hickey will this put on my resale value if I should ever decide to sell her (which I have no immediate plans to do)?
Only $1200? I'd probably do it!
Somehow I don't think it would hurt resale value at all. I think there would be more people who would like it (provided it done right) than people who would not.
Yes it is, and I keep ALL my parts from any mods I ever do.
Well then I say go for it. You will have the best of both worlds. We were out all day Saturday with the lid down...nothing like it!
If you decide to sell later you can see which way is worth more at the time. I would think it would appeal to a lot of people but Vette people can be **** about originality too. With the option to return it you have all the bases covered.
Ummmm, no. Barbie had a convertible vette. And thats all I have to say about that.
That saying kinda matches your avatar!
But I'll fess up...when I told various co-workers I'd bought the vette, they replied, "You mean a Barbie car?" Burst my bubble for a little less than a minute, NOT.
I'm wanting to convert my coupe to a couple/frc/z06 mix. wanting the fixed glass with the frc/z06 trunk lid but keep the targa top. Yes I'm crazy, I know.
Barbie car? Now I've heard Miatas/MX5s refered to as chick cars but never a Vette. More of a Ken car when Ken is 60, his hair is either gray or fell out and he hasn't been to the Gym in a while.
Conversion for 1200.00? The tops alone are more than that not to mention the labor involved to remove your top, add the tonneau cover door and the hardware that goes along with it and you will have paintwork to be done not to mention a skilled shop that specializes in convertible tops. After all you want it to look factory or whats the point. Do yourself a favor and just buy a nice Vert and forego the headaches involved in a conversion.
