I was just wondering how cool it might be to get some kind of mounting system for my iPad in my c5
Has anyone tried this or maybe even know of a Vendor that makes something for this.
Let m know what you think
Thanks
Bruce
Just bungee cord it right over your steering wheel. Those C6's have steering wheel controls, you can do one better and scroll your Ipad AND drive at the same time.
Or do like I do and toss it in the back or the passenger seat.

Kind of difficult using an iPad navigation app with the iPad thrown in the back or on the passenger seat but thanks for your suggestion oh, and I don't think I'll go with your bungee idea either.
Its been done on a lot of cars. I've thought about doing it.
Its a little big though. A double DIN is ~7" across, and an iPad is ~10" I think.
There are a few android tablets which have 7" screens. Overall I think its generally cheaper and easy just to get in-dash navigation. There are lots of units available which sync directly with iphone (I believe ipad also, don't quote me on it), which is what I'm planning on.
iPad I think would not be ideal because the volume control would be clumsy to use while driving, it doesn't really have good screen interface for driving (though there's probably apps for that? I don't know). I don't think the radio is very good, and you'd want a 3g plan for it. And you'd need converters and an amp to get the signal to the speakers.
Look into the "Pioneer App Radio 2". It basically puts your mobile device onscreen and has an external GPS antenna for a more accurate signal. And I think its only like $400, which I think is a good price.
In my Ranger I use an iPad for NAV and music, or whatever, brings complete mobile computing power to it. Fits perfect in the rubber based console. Motion X has an excellent turn by turn GPS app. It connects right at the lower console to the build in Ford stereo.

I have been looking for a while to find a nice flush mount for my car. I finally gave up and just made a temp mount. It can be taken off and back to stock in less than a minute. I mainly use it for the REV2 app, it connects to the OBDII.

I haven't found any easy vendor solutions, but you can pick up a fiberglass shell from SoundManCarAudio (http://store.soundmancaraudio.com/ipad-parts/) and fab into the center console. If you go this route, be sure to put together a helpful guide so I can follow along!

What did you use for the mount, or is the whole thing custom? Got any more pics?
Just google Ipad dash mount... you'll see lots of different types. I've used mine in my Jeep on numerous occaisions with a windshield arm mount and it's been great to have along. I have a 3gs model so I have connectivity just about everywhere. Output audio through the radio is very good as well. My wife's Accord has the built in Nav and the iPad is just as quick if not quicker when compared side by side, plus you get so much more functionality. Far easier to use then messing with ***** or buttons too.
I've not used it in the vette, but do have a mount for the center vents for my iPhone which works really well. Audio output through the cassette deck is awesome and sounds better then the 12 disc changer in the rear. I would imagine a short ram mount into the cup holder with disconnect would be ideal and allow for fast removal too.
It's a great idea, the iPad is big though, all my music is digital these days, and the c5 has no aux input, the new nexus tablet is only $200 and a 7" screen, volume control is the only hickup. For the old people who don't understand, if you can get and Indash touch screen with navigation, an internal hard drive, that can stream pandora, spotify etc for under $300, let me know.
Lexus did the right thing and positioned their navigation/info screen closer to the windshield. The 3D spaceball-like controller keeps your hands away from the dash and your eyes closer to where they should be - on the road ahead. Kudos to Lexus for thinking this whole touch screen-for-cars thing through from a safety standpoint and not merely from a "What's popular?" point of view.
Really, the last thing we should have in our cars is a giant touch screen to distract our attention even more than it already is. Heck, the HUD display is there to keep our eyes on the road. A tablet is the complete opposite type of feature. Don't do it!
On a side note, for those of you who travel and can use a lightweight but full-on PC-like tablet, the upcoming MS Surface will have everything the iPad lacks, including Ethernet, USB 3 and video out connectors as well as an i5 processor and 128 MB of memory - capable of running even some MCAD programs under WIN 8 Pro in an HD tablet that weighs 2 lbs.
JUST DON'T MOUNT IT IN YOUR C5!

Just a reminder of what can happen if you're distracted, even briefly.
