Default 6-lug conversion.

This is going to be an oddball question for sure.
Anyone ever convert their bolt pattern to a 6X114.3 pattern?
Reasons: Want to run big huge massive wheels/tires for the track but don't want to buy a new set. Already have some Viper sized wheels sitting on the floor along with bearing and hubs and other viper parts.

thoughts and opinions?
or has anyone ever converted to a much more common 5X120 pattern?

5x120 wheels will work. (4.75" = 120.65mm) That said, there are a million options for properly sized wheels for the C5. What do you want that's not offered?

To answer your question: I've never heard of any custom hubs with a different wheel bolt pattern for the C5.

I really wanted to run Te37's, or some work emotions, but they only make 5X120. Was told that the 5X120 do not sit well on a 120.65 spacing. And is not recommend if you track your car.

Then I decided on some CCW's.
Then I remember that I have some kick *** wheels, but the bolt pattern is different (6x114.3). Just wanted to know if anyone has tried a custom hub to run something a little different. I have everything I would need to do it (or almost everything); wanted to see what some vette owners would say about running viper parts

Is it cheaper to have custom hubs done or to find another set of wheels that fit? Even custom wheels would still be a bolt in solution.

I could find a set of nice CCW's that fit. It hasn't been decided yet because the opportunity costs are quite large. I wouldn;t be able to run my stock rims and would have to get rotor hats machined every time I need rotors. Upside: I have access to dodge replacement bearings and such, and could run massive brakes. Price wise, It would be favouring the hubs by enough money to buy a set of oem viper rims/rubber to run on the street.

You could try to find out if the hubs from the original Cadillac CTS-v's would interchange. They are 6-bolt hubs.

I was looking around and found a set but the bolt spacing is really oddball... 6x115.
But I think I might pick them up anyways and cannibalize them if I go forth with this strange mutant swap from behind enemy lines.

You might save a lot of money on aspirin if you sell / trade the mutant wheels for ones that fit your project.
Maybe.

You probably need to ask the question on the autocross and road racing page of the forum, that's where the track rats hang out, but so far as I know nobody is botherning to change from normal 5 bolt pattern wheels to 6 bolts. Not worth the trouble, and the better wheel bearings that will live a lot better than the stock C5 wheel bearings come with the stock bolt pattern.

Brake rotor and wheel bearing life on the track has been a much bigger issue than wheels falling off.

My questions is what's the weight difference of the wheels/tires between what you want to run and what everyone else tends to use. If it's signifcant, the potential added traction of the bigger rubber will be offset by the additional weight the engine is trying to rotate.

Sounds like more trouble than it's worth. I could see going center-hub for a track car, but 6-lug?

going to a 6-bolt is like asking to go bald, be 4'9", overweight and ugly. You'll run out of options real fast...

I'm just sayin' as my bud has a CTS-V and is basically stuck with 2 or 3 wheel styles to pick from...
