Default Fast 102 install advice

Hey,

I just picked up a vararam, fast 102, ls2 style fuel rails, 34# fast injectors, and a Nick Williams 102 tb and will install in a couple weeks. I am mainly wondering if any of yall that installed this fast 102 and tb and have any advice or anything to help me make this install more smoothly w/o any unknown problems i wouldnt be aware of?

Thanks

Be prepared to have to grind a bit on the water pump and throttle body to get the TB to fit.

Remove the push pin from the center of the cowl to provide clearance for the top of the manifold.

Other than that it's a pretty straightforward swap.

34 lb injectors are going to be working rather hard at over 480 rwhp. I would consider 42 lb injectors. At WOT, I'm at 80% duty cycle on my 36lb injectors with 471/441 to the tires. Try to keep your WOT injector duty cycle under 80% if possible (It will improve the life of your injectors)

I have a install procedure on my web site when I installed my FAST92. Should be similar I would imagine.

www.ToqueZ06.com

I think your also going to need a different fuel rail setup as the FAST102 is taller than stock.

Good luck !

Thanks for that, Is it just grind some off the water pump or do i have to grind some off the tb also?

Also i appreciate your link as i got a good understanding of the install, ive been told the 34# injectors will work but when i dyno it ill see where its at, if so i could just get a set of ls3 injectors with a spacer correct? And stock fuel rails i know wont fit, but the ls2 should work just fine i believe. Thanks again

Your welcome !

I hear that the LS2 fuel rails will fit the 102.
I'm not sure what the LS3 injectors are rated at. I would talk to your tuner and see what injectors/spacers you would need. I'm not sure.

Mainly the water pump, but a little off the TB makes grinding what you need off the pump feel a little safer.

when are you finishing the install, post some pics of the grinding work done to the water pump and TB as i will be doing the same thing to my C5Z

i have the same lg headers catless pipes, vararam intake, same VRX5 camshaft, to a borla "stinger" catback. it put down 433 RWHP 400 RWTQ,

although i will be using my stock ls6 243 heads ported by 510 race engineering in houston tx to a 102 FAST,, hopefully i will hit 480 430 mark,

goodluck,

Sure man, that wont be a problem. I wont be doing the install until late july because work has me tied up to make the trip to GA to get the car tuned. Dont trust tuners in NC so i make the drive to Vengeance FTW. Good Luck on your on #s and ill keep this thread updated when i finish everything.

There are at least 2 VERY well known and respected LSx shops in/around the Raleigh area. Just a heads up

Hey man, I really appreciate you looking out for me and i do thank you for the advice I really do, but I'm not here to bash any shops, I know both one i been to and won't come back and the other has kinda screwed alot of my friends in town so I'm not really trusting that one too much either. I do say Vengeance is well worth the drive and wouldn't want anyone else working on my car.

All I can say is WELL worth the drive man. I take the 6hr trip every time and its well worth that. I also have ordered all the parts for my car from there.

dam , it sounds like a hit or miss, its just me but i dont want to shim my cradle, for an intake and grind down on a 500 buck TB and water pump for that matter,

and with fuel rails, gaskets,TB, ect it comes to around 1600.00 1700.00 bucks it should fit pretty dam perfect,

now the question is will a 92 FAST intake fit with a 92 FAST or NW TB, with out any modification to the TB or water pump, cradle shimming ect.?

i wonder if its a big diff in power both ported by TONY MAMO or the same person,

if its not much diff and the 92/92 combo fit with no problems what so ever i will be going that route, 92/92 combo.

Check out toques website above, he shows a great install of the fast 90/92 intake. I'd say between the 92-102 is about 5-7rwhp

My 102 took some messaging to install. This is on my F-body, though. Just FYI.

Mine is ported, with a PTM 96mm TB on it and FAST fuel rails. the stock LS1/6 fuel rails will NOT work on it.
I also have 36# injectors on my car with no problems.
I had to grind a bit on the top of the water pump and I also had to grind a bit on the FAST 102 itself to get it to fit properly and too allow proper alignment onto the motor. Once positioned and with the grinding, I just painted the intake and the water pump to hide all the grind marks. I didn't grind all that much to insure a proper fitment.

I can't speak enough how much better the car drives with a big cam. It has WAY more TQ down low and my TQ curve was super flat, from 2500rpms to 5700rpms where my tuner had to shut it down due to lifter noise. I haven't had it back on the dyno since I installed the Comp OE lifters to fix the problem.
Again, mine is ported. I don't have any experience with a stock FAST.
