Default Correct Order for Cig Lighter Assembly

I'm in the process of installing a new instrument panel bezel and didn't expect the cig lighter to have so many pieces inside. Long story short, they all fell out before I could note how they all go back together. Does anyone happen to know the correct order for the several pieces? I'm not having much luck trying to guess.

Check the diagram here: http://store.gmpartshouse.com/parts/...agramCallOut=4

Item 5 slips in from the front and then item 6 is a retaining piece that screws onto the back of item 5 and keeps it tight to the bezel. Then your electrical connections snap onto a metal stud on the back of Item 5. Those are all the parts that my console cig lighter has on it, besides the lighter itself.

The socket itself has several small pieces inside of it. Under the nut that secures the assembly is a U-shaped metal contact point, two metal washers, one large and one small, and a plastic washer. These had to be put back together in the correct order to avoid constantly blowing the fuse. I finally gave up on guessing and went to the local parts store to see how the sockets they had were assembled. I reassembled mine according to the order I noted at the parts store and now have a working lighter socket again. I hadn't realized the entire back housing unscrewed. At least now I understand the inner workings of a cig lighter, for whatever that's worth....

Didn't know you took the entire socket apart - . Glad you got it all back together again - sometimes it can get confusing when it comes to reassembling the pieces.

Confusing isn't one of the words I used.
