Default Console difference from 1997 to 04 ?

Is there any difference in the rear consoles from a 1997 to a 2003 Corvette? I'm trying to relocate the gas door switch and the extra power outlet from my 2003, but they seem different in size form my 2003 ? Thank you !

Default Please help Me !

I can get a demal tool, but I can't figure out why there would be so much difference, all the catalogs say 1997 to 04 in them ? Now that it took three months to get finished, Now it won't accetp the switches ? If I had any hair I'd be pulling it out ?

Just out of curiosity, where are you relocating them to?

Default Gas door switch ?

I'm trying to install it in the same location, but on this console the square hole for the switch is too small for the switch. Likewise, the extra power outlet hole is too small. I'm afraid of making it wrong if I go to opening the holes to fit. So I'm not moving them, but they won't fit in the existing locations. I took the console again, and this time I can see where there was or is an adepter which I took off. With it on, the square holes is too small, I took it off and now the hole is too big and the switch still doesn't fit in either way. This is frustrating !

I never thought there is/was a difference in a piece of the console like this.

I know how you feel. I bought a spare console base (no idea what year C5 it came from) which I used to paint body color and then bought a new power port for it. Dealer looked it up, ordered the part and when it came in, it would not fit in the hole in the console. I ended up using a dremel to open the hole a bit and it worked fine - just took things very slowly so the hole did not get too big. That was the only thing that gave me a problem - the A/H and gas filler lid buttons worked just fine.

Good luck getting everything to work out.

I sat down last night and I have both the gas door switch and the extra power outlet and there is NO WAY they'll fit. The gas door had an under sized squar outlet, and the 2003 switch will fit in it, so I took the undersized adapter out and now the square switch is too big. same thing for the extra power outlet, For the life of me I never even considered something as mundane as the gas door switch outlet being changed and Why ? Now I've got a beautiful console that fit who the hell know what. It's very frustating, I never thought of a difference.
