Hey everyone! I purchased my first corvette today! I picked up a 2000 coupe and already LOVE driving it. It does have a few issues that need some attention however and thought this would be a good place to start!
First - the climate control has no visible display in the daytime. at night you can see a faint display but i'm not sure if it's working correctly. It blows cold A/C but when switched to heat it doesn't seem to to anything. Also the driver side *** spin infinitely (doesn't max out either direction).
Second - the front turn signals do not work. The car has aftermarket headlights and I wonder if this has something to do with that.
Third - the driver information center does not work, it displays odometer at all times. None of the buttons to switch to anything else do anything!
Lastly - the HUD doesn't work.....at all.
Could these all be inter related? I don't know where to start. None of the issues were a deal breaker to me so i bought the car, however i would like to get them addressed if not too costly.
For the turn signals - do the marker lights come on? If you turn on the hazard lights do the front lamps blink? If they come on with the hazards then the hazard switch may be bad. This is somewhat of a common issue. If they don't light at all check the bulbs. Both may be burned out. There
Now the HUD and DIC issues are probably connected. When you turn the parking lights on do the buttons on the right side of the IPC light up? If not the cable that connects the buttons to the IPC may be unplugged. There is a 2nd cable that connects the IPC to the HUD projector this also may be disconnected.

the front turn signals do light up when the hazards are on. and occaisonaly when i use the turn signals but the blink at super speed! Also when i turn the headlights to parking lights the front markers do not light up. Could this be caused by a bad hazard switch?
The IPC lights up when the parking lights are on. I'll have to pull it apart one of these days and see if it's something as simple as a loose cable.
all fuses were checked.
Thanks for the great link on the HVAC repair! Great info!!
If you are not electrically inclinded, when you get ready to tackle you display and HUD issues ask the forum for someone in your area to help you. Looked at your zip code and you are nowhere near me in South Carolina. Good luck, Sam
***UPDATE*** I was driving today and the check gauge light came on and it seems my fuel gauge has now quit working. UGH. This seems like it's related to the BCM. or maybe the MFS???
I'd start by reading all you can. There all kinds of write ups on this site about the electrical grimlins lurking in the C5. I'd also start by cleaning all the grounds, before trying to trouble shoot the problems you curantly have. My car had several problems when I bought it too. Cleaning the grounds took care of most of them. There are diagrams on here to show you were they are located.

If all else fails, send a PM to forum member Bill Curlee describing the situation. He knows a lot about the C5 electrical system and he might be able to help you diagnose where the problem might be.
I'll see what i can find on the grounds. I can't use the reset button on my dash since my DIC doesn't work...which also prevents me from pulling codes unfortunately. Has anybody tried the BCM reset? (off 11 minutes, on 30 seconds...etc). What exactly does it do???
Thanks for all the replies guys! Corvetteforum rocks!!
A new problem!!!! They just keep coming.....now when i turn my headlights off all the dash lights, DRL, Tail lights and lights on the door (window, lock, etc) flicker on and off (strobe light) 8-10 times and i hear a clicking coming from the BCM area. I think i've gotten in over my head with this C5!!!!!

Make sure the bcm is not WET. I'll cause you alot of problems if it is. Check the passenger footwell for water.
no signs of water in the passenger footwell and no oxidation on BCM. That was my initial thought because it seems like a short or something.
Go to the grounds then, also check the serial cable that runs thru the accordians in the doors. They may grounding. There are a lot of articals on this site about the grimlins. Mine had a few too, when I bought it. Shes been good for a year now, knock on wood. Good luck and don't get discouraged. Disconnect the battery and fully charge it. My battery would start my car but I would get some erea codes and messages. My battery didn't have enough voltage after starting.

I read Bill Curelee's post on electrical ground. I checked the two in the front of the car last night after reading it and they seem to be in good shape. I guess i'll check out the rest of them when i get the time. Seems like a lot of strange problems to be a ground though. I sent Bill a PM but haven't heard back yet. Talked to the GM dealer and they said they would start with the Multifunction switch as that was a common problem that never seems to produce the same symptoms!
