Went to a cruise last Friday and I saw what I thought was a silver 63 Split Window Sting Ray coming in , but a closer look told me that was no ordinary 63. He parked next to me and as I looked closer and talked to the owner, he said that he bought a brand new 2012 corvette and immediately sent it to Karl Customs in Des Moines, IA to have all of the outer skins removed and be re-skinned completely with 63 split window body panels. This car had an actual opening rear window hatch panel too. The only visible difference is the doors are a little bit longer and the body is a little wider but not really that noticable until a 64 coupe pulled in beside his. Inside it looked pretty much like a 2012 except that they removed the stock seats and installed seats that were upholstered with the same pattern as a stock 63. This car immediately drew a huge crowd all through the cruise. He told me that he had to sell several of his classic corvettes to pay for this one. Was very interesting. They also build them in a Z06 but can't imagine tearing that one apart.

I realize that the windshield is different, so is the inside dash etc. I had a couple C2's . I was talking about the outside skin. The idea is not to make a 63 but one similar with modern technology and conveniences.
Saw one last nite parked in front of a restaurant in town. I walked around it a couple of times. First glance I was like "cool!". But after spending a few minutes checking it out, the proportions are so wrong that it's like you're looking at it in a funhouse mirror.
