My multiswitch went out on my car, so instead of replacing it, I decided to repair it following Bill Curlee's instructions. By doing this, I saved over $200 in parts and labor.
The shop that I brought my car in said that the job was going to be hard because of all the wires in the steering column lol (there was like five, and they were all grouped together).
Regardless, the job took about 2 hrs with a lunch break + going out in town to buy tools.
1. Key inserted, turned one click over, dash light lit up.
2. Start car, and turn on running lights or head lights up and the dash/console light failed to turn on (the tail lights also failed to turn on)
3. I still would have my blinkers and headlights though.
I think it's a GM design that the dash lights won't turn on while the head lights are illuminated to let you know that your tail lights' night time running lights don't work.
Regardless, always check the fuses first before you go tearing your car apart like I did lol.
Torx tips screw drivers + wratchets are a must for this job.
