If you're looking for an upgrade, the nest step is the C-6 Zo6 shocks.
A great shock at a good price.
Needless to say, the sky is the limit on upgrades.
I'd avoid standard or parts store shock.
Gere Culli @ GM parts warehouse can help you out.

There are many good options. I chose the Koni FSD shocks after driving on a set with a friend who installed them on his C6 GS. Pricier than GM shocks, however lifetime warranty which is important to me since my C5 is a weekend driver.

I added a thermal tunnel plate when I installed my X-pipe and the car rides like it's on rails.

Lots of members here have gone with the C6 Z06 shocks and I have yet to hear a bad report on them. When mine are due for a change, these will be at the top of my list.

I recently picked up a set of C6Z06 shocks with less than 10K on them from a forum member for a great price (not that the price from Gene at GMPartsHouse is bad, actually a great price for new). I had put C5 Z06 sways and metal links on front and rear a few months ago. All of the Z06 parts have really improved the feel on the twisties. The C6Z06 shocks are the best deal out there. Can you do better? A little bit. But that little bit will cost you big, big bucks.

Red cars are faster. They did a study on it.
