If you ask that question [why would you go old school] then there is no way you would ever understand. Some of the old "gearheads on here know what I'm talking about so I assume your fairly young if you don't know the feeling you get when your little chopped coupe leaves the line hard and you can smell the smoke from the tires as you try to keep her straight and out of the wall. It's hot in there as you make the pass and a little mist of oil hits the windshield from the blowoff from the breather at say 7500 rpms in the traps. you have to brake hard to get her stopped because Its an old backwoods country "strip" with not a hell of a lot of area to stop! Thats drag racing my friend, and I've enjoyed it off and on since my first trip down thetrack in 1963.

Turn double nickles this year. Old school is just OLD, you can do all this and more with new tech and be able to stop and go around corners without hopping and actually drive it on the street.

Drive a death machine if you want, but I think it's time to come out of the Stone age.

My "death Machine" is 82 years old and been a rod for over 40 years.
you think your Vette will be around in 82 years? Don't get me wrong, I've owned 17 corvettes in my life and love Corvettes [ but not necesserily some of their their owners]. And by the way, I drive all my hotrods on the street rain and shine but I've never been a lawn chair sitting show guy whos afraid to get his "toy' dirty by actually driving it or racing it for that matter. Maybe I should take that 50 year old seascape painting [valued at $10,000] down from the wall and get me a new 'high tech' one painted by a computer at wallmart for $18.00 or so. My "death trap coupe" seems to go up in value every year, Hows your vette doing?
