Default Serpentine belt?

I bought.my 2001 vert about 6 months ago. It's got 38,000 miles on it now and I would like to take care of smaller things before they become a problem. Can anyone tell me how to tell if I need to replace the serpentine belt?

While I am at it are there other things I should consider replacing as a preventitave measure?

If you haven't changed all the fluids, would do that soon. As far as the belt is concerned, check for cracks, missing pieces in the ribs of the belt, worn or frayed edges, etc.

I changed my belts about a month or so ago. I've got 93K on the car. They didn't look worn but with that many miles I thought it was time...rather in the garage then on the Tail of the Dragon.

Are you in a club? We'll be driving the Dragon in Nov. Want to come along?

P.S. always check your tires!

I actually might be interested in a trip to the Dragon. I do not belong to a club yet, which one are you with?

Change the belts, with an s. If they haven't been changed since 01 you need to, milegae doesn't matter.

Get gatorback belts. You'll thank me later.

I'm in a couple of clubs......Corvette Cruisers of Atlanta is the one going to the Dragon. It's a two night event at Fontana. If that doesn't work for ya, just hold on and we'll be getting a little mountain drive to Tennessee in Sept.. I posted it on CF this morning.

I replaced my factory belts at 115,000 miles and they showed minimal signs of cracking. I saved them as backups. I also went with the gatorbacks.
