Default Interior Light Help

Alright, I have searched but I am not finding the answer I am looking for. I am sure there is a thread somewhere, but I can't find it.

So...my interior lights are working, because when I unlock the doors with the key fob, they all come on. However, when I open the doors without unlocking at the fob (for instance, getting in the car in the garage) - they don't come on. I wish they did.

Are they supposed to come on when you open the door? Or are they not? I'd appreciate some help.

Thanks CF!

Ben

The interior lights should come on anytime the door or hatch is opened, unless it is bright outside (at least that is what my owner's manual says). If your's is not working when it is in a darkened environment, I'd say there is a problem somewhere.

Here's an excerpt from the 2003 owner's manual:

Courtesy Lamps
When any door or the hatchhrunk lid is opened, the
interior lamps will go on (unless it’s bright outside).
You can also turn on the courtesy lamps by turning the
instrument panel brightness **** all the way clockwise.

Exit/Entry Lighting
With entry lighting, the interior lamps will come on when
entering the vehicle. The interior lamps will come on
for about 20 seconds when the key is turned to OFF or
a door is ajar.
You can turn exit and entry lighting off by quickly turning
the headlamps on and off or by quickly turning the
courtesy lamps on and off.

Yeah, so I feel really stupid. They weren't going on because it was light out. They are working fine now in my darkened garage. Thanks man...I couldn't find an "eye" so I was not aware the car had this feature.

Appreciate it!
