Default So I'm working on the front end.

UPS delivered the new C6 Z06 shocks today, Thank you GMPartshouse.com. I see the difference is the barrels are much larger that stock, but otherwise direct bolt on.

So I’m sitting on the garage floor looking at my car’s front shocks. I’m reminded of a documentary I saw about some National Geographic Laboratory Study. Scientists recorded and observed a Monkey in a room with a Mason jar. They put an apple that was slightly smaller than the jar’s opening in it. The test was to see how the monkey used his intelligence to get it out. The monkey reached in and grabbed the apple and tried to pull it out. But when his hand was holding the apple, he couldn’t pull it out cause it was too big to fit back through the jar’s opening. After hours of watching and recording the monkey try and try again getting more frustrated as the hours ticked by, the monkey in utter frustration laid the jar down on its side and the apple rolled out. Then the scientist placed another jar with another apple in it and the monkey started the whole process over as if he never learned the lesson.
I’m sitting on my garage floor frustrated looking at the front shock I was trying to get out and after an hour of fighting it, it fell out. Now I have to start all over again on the front shock on the other side. But I feel the urge for a banana, and wonder who’s watching me?

Done for the night...the front end is finished....going back to my cage and rest up for tomorrow.

I'll tackle the rear shocks tomorrow, after eating some more bananas.

I've performed many projects and mods where I grew frustrated, shut down for the day, got a good night sleep and then finished the mod in 10 minutes the next day.

Are you using the tie-wrap method? It makes it much easier to change shocks.

I think this is the reason that so many "cold one" breaks occur. Just hoping the damn thing will fall off...

Be sure and check yourself for ticks before you get back in the cage.

Oh the nice lady of the house met me at the front door and told me how to enter the "cage" and clean up. Today I'm gonna take my knuckle dragging self back down to the shop and R&R the rear shocks. I'm usually very good at this but every once in a while things end up going from really simple to stupid silly.

When that happens, simply walk away and have a few cold ones. Clear your head and try it again.

Tie Wraps not needed if you unbolt the upper A arm.

Don't feel too bad, when I was working on my recent brake job and trying to break the caliper bolts free I fought the first one for 30 minutes before it finally dawned on me that I could just turn the steering wheel and expose the bolts to an angle that would allow me to easily put my three foot cheater bar on it. The rest of the front bolts on both sides took less than five minutes.

Yeah, I felt the urge for a banana at that point. I was just glad nobody was watching me.

I think you're just jerking our chains. I too just received my new shock package from Justin. I put the car up on stands, pulled the wheels and removed all the fasteners and went in the house and waited over an hour. When I went back to the car all four shocks were right where they were when I left. They didn't fall out at all.

Be sure and tell us if you had a trouble free event. Some people just have great installs and no trouble.

Happens to me all the time.

Happened to me a lot in engineering school. Stop. Calm down. Distract yourself, then restart in a fresh state of mind.
