If the only problem with the LS7 is the valves, wouldn't everybody that owned one have Trickflow heads installed, with a FAST intake? There's got to be more than just valve issues? BTW, pretty sure you can use LS1-6 heads on LS7 blocks.
For expediency, and lower cost would be my only reasons. I believe aftermarket valves for factory, and aftermarket heads can be more reliable. I'm not a LS7 owner, nor do I plan to be.

No.. because 99% of the LS7's running around stay stock.. 99% of the people DONT like to mod their cars to that extent. Also, the LS7 exhaust valve dropping issue is about as common or less than the LS6 valve spring issue. You guys are totally blowing this out of proportion.
That may or may not be true regarding failure rates. Nonetheless, the cost of replacement is what grabbed my attention. Bottom line, the LS7 costs 3x as much as the LS6. That's nothing to sneeze at.
I luv my C5Z, but think you're crazy to swap in your situation.
Ditto. I have owned both.
I'm currently in a C5Z and enjoying every minute only b/c that was all my toy budget would allow. Given the opportunity I would jump to a C6Z in a heartbeat!

Hey, I've got no dog in this hunt; just saying what's possible. In a related issue, if I had traded up to a C6Z; it'd end up modded. Long run, it's alot more $$$ to upgrade a LS7, even if the result is very effective.
Just get an aftermarket warranty like I did throGh my credit union...... Covers EVERTHING minus maintenance stuff.... It's like $2300 for 7 years, 100k miles..... Cheap insurance imho
[QUOTE=02sscamaro;1581662570]yes this sounds crazy but hear me out. i bought a 07 z 7months ago all stock 14,000 miles. blown motors are popping up left and right with these cars. stock or modded. i like too mod my cars but this one i cant just dont have that type of cash too throw around. $15,000 4 a motor no thanks. the dealer i bought this z from has a 04 z 9,000 miles 4 31,000 all stock. is it worth it too by the 04 and do cam heads long tubes? the 07 z makes alot of power but most of it in the upper rpm range i would like something more streetable if that makes any sense? not sure what too do?[/QUOTE
For the money you spend on LT's and a cam for the C5Z, you could just pull the heads and send them off to WCCH for some upgrades. Keep what you got...and this is coming from someone who's owned both a C5Z and currently a C6Z.

However, there is a major difference here in that the LS6 has a known fix for the issue and the LS7 doesn't. Modded or stock people seem to pop them and there still isn't a clue as to why it happens or what the fix is. And while I agree there are a lot out there that aren't having issues blown motor threads on the C6 Z keep popping up. At least from what I've seen.
With all due respect, there is a bloody ton of incorrect info on here.
The c6 z valve failure is not very rare as stated, do your homework. Tons of posts here and elsewhere about it.
Replace the c6 valve springs? WTH would that accomplish, not even remotely the problem. The problem is either the valve, the guides, or the rockers or some combination of that.
c5z spring failures are NOT common, especially in later years. If that bothers you then spend a few hundred $$ and replace them. Springs are very cheap so who cares.
I will probably own a C6Z some day and the first thing I'll do is replace the heads. IMHO based on what we currently know (and what we don't know) it's the only sure way.
