Default HUD windshield or not

I need to replace my 02Z winshield with HUD. The price for a non-hud is about half ($600v$1200)....has anyone done this and if so what happens to the HUD

I added the HUD after the car was built; so I'm using the factory non-HUD windshield. It works just fine.

The factory HUD windshield takes measures to "crisp" the image a little better.

But, my 2002's HUD (with non HUD windshield) display looks every bit as good as the HUD display on my wifes 2003 (with factory HUD windshield).

The only problem I've ever read aout was using a HUD on an aftermarket non-HUD windshield.

I work for a company that makes windshields both HUD and non HUD. The difference is the vinyl that's used between the glass. You will get less distortion with the HUD vinyl but It's so little difference I can not see paying double for the HUD windshield. Get the non HUD and you will be happy with it. Spend the $600 you save on your car/wife/girlfriend or just send it to me

If you are paying for it, go with the non-HUD windshield. You won't really notice any difference.

My glass guy says the same thing as you guys. I still have the original. Only problem I have is it is hard to see with sunglasses on. Maybe I need some better sunglasses ?

Polarized sun glasses can make the display hard to see!

If I remember correctly from my military days, some pilots were having this problem in fighter jets with sunglasses and their HUD displays. They had to change their glasses.

I installed a hud unit into my FRC which was non Hud Equipped ,The windshield was the original and the Hud displays very nicely even in direct sunlight.I think the whole Hud windshield thing was totally a manufactures deal to sell the special glass and make a bunch of money
