Default allstate insurance

I am currently with state farm and have a very competitive quote from allstate
for auto, homeowners and umbrella. Will save me about $800/yr.
Need feedback from allstate policy holders about their experience with
the company

Thanks

Allstate dropped Florida homeowners policies in 2006 so I dropped their auto insurance policies that I had bundled together. They wanted to keep the autos, however I didn't want to give them my business after they dropped my homeowners policy.

Outside of that, I had no complaints and no claims.

I've been with Allstate forever (38 years). Never been disappointed, in fact when we had a water pipe break and flood our house, they even reimbursed me for my time that I spent evacuating water before their guys showed up. If I didn't approve a repair, they had it corrected until I did. Same on an auto claim. No hassels, do discussions, just paid up or got the work done. I've always paid for premium insurance and I have never regretted it.

I have a great money saving bundle for StateFarm so I am happy with them.

My Vette was hit by an Allstate insured driver, 100% their fault, fully admitted fault with witnesses [ parking lot...she drove into the Vette backing up] Allsate refused to pay for the actual damages. I did not turn in the claim to my insurance company, as there was no question as to fault or a portion of fault. I had the car repaired at 100% my expense at a qualified body shop, no funny business or fake claims junk...just new parts and paint. I had to file a law suit and it took 2 years to get paid. It went to court, and with our witnesses, and the written statement of the driver at fault....the Judge threw the book at Allstate for not paying in full in a timely manner, ordered them to pay insantly, and also assesed an additional 2 times damages award to us for having to suffer for 2 years uncompansated...So I got paid for the damages, and 2 X over. We did not even engage an attornery..just showed up with the witness, the actual repair bill, and written statement by the faulty driver saying that she did NOT look, and just backed up and hit my car. It was over in less than 5 minutes. Allstate sucks in my book. however I have heard if you are insured by them, they treat you fine....

Sometimes you get the "good hands."
Sometimes you just get the finger.

From what I've learned about insurance, every insurance company's agents will lie about rates. Typically what happens is they will increase your rate without any ticket/accident/claims slowly over time. I've seen lower rates everytime when I ask for quotes from the same insurance I've used before. I remember Allstate giving us like $600, then AAA offered $500, so I switched to AAA. After a year, AAA got to over $600, so I swithced back to Allstate.

It seems like a game to me, so you just keep switching I guess. They offer no benefit for being a loyal customer anyway. The same stuff happens with our AT&T, bills magically go up, even though we've been their customer for over a decade. There isn't much customer appreciation these days.

I am not happy with Allstate! I have been with them for auto, homeowners, and landlords insurance since 1983. I had a tree fall on a rental property 3 years ago, had a thief break in a garage and steal 3k worth of tools, and a heavy snow fall damage the roof on an addition. All happened within the last 4 years. Because of these claims they denied me insurance on another house I purchased. I have paid them premiums for almost 30 years and they treat me like this. Had to use State Farm. I would change all policies over if it wasn't such a PITA. I would avoid them!

A similar thing happened to us. We were sitting at a gas station when some guy in a pickup started weaving through the waiting vehicles while he was driving in reverse. Since we weren't directly behind him, I didn't think much of it until he cut his wheel and steered directly at our 2 week old RX400h. Before I could throw it into reverse, the guys truck plowed into the Lexus, causing $2000 in damage. And yes, you guessed it, the guy was insured by Allstate.

Despite pictures and witnesses, Allstate announced that we were 10% at fault because I didn't blast the horn. I guess they figured I should've had extra sensory perception in order to anticipate the sudden turning move the guy did.

It took one year for us to receive that 10% after the arbitration judge essencially blasted Allstate for insinuating that I was partially at fault.
I too, am no fan of that company.

Try Mercury, instead. I've been with them for many years and they saved me thousands over State Farm.
