It's not that those of us who haven't signed up are cheapskates. In the early days the Forum was run by enthusiasts but it became a commercial organization a few years ago. Many of us still contribute but with time and accumulated knowledge rather than $$
Now, if they were to provide Supporting Members with a non-popup add interface or some other additional benefit I might do it.
BTW: I'm not a Supporting Member of my grocery store either. Vendors pay to display their product and I am free to buy them as I wish.
After over a year on this wonderful forum and gaining sooo much education on these cars of ours I felt obliged to become a supporting member....I know what it costs to manage a forum as large as this one and we can only make it better by supporting the people behind the scenes...SO C"MON stop procrastinating...you know it's one hell of a deal at $25......I have probably saved hundreds if not thousands from the smart Corvette people on here and you will also...what's $25....a few beers guys and gals...get involved!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Many thanks for starting this string. I've been meaning to join for several months as a way of just saying thanks.
I bought my third Vette one year ago after trying Porsches and Jags for 10 years. After happily jumping into a 2002 vert, I had a lot to learn about the C5 vehicles and which upgrades would yield the machine I really wanted.
It is difficult to quantify how much time and money I have saved as a result of participating in this forum, but I would hazard both figures are quite significant.
Thanks to all for your help and your many posts of the past which have created such a rich data base in which to mine for nuggets of wisdom and experience.

Always enjoy your posts B747VET...thanks for your commitment
I upgraded a number of months ago. I have gotten so much from the site here and wanted to give back. This is a great site and the members are what makes it so.
After many years of Vette ownership, the Forum has been an excellent source of information. I belong to several associations in my profession, costing many times what the Forum costs me.....and get alot less from my professional associations.

And you are one of those great contributors of information...thanks for your input....

and I just did. I should have done it sooner. This forum and it's members are invaluable to me and my C5.
I am in now. Been meaning to do it for the past couple of years just never got around to it. Although I don't get residuals for my time and knowledge invested here, the return I receive from others time and knowledge is a 1000 fold (wish my 401k got that kind of return).
I got no problem with that. Most of the vendors are also active contributors of their time, knowledge and experience when people have questions and issues.
BTW.. just counted... of the top 15 threads in this forum, 7 of them are ads.
Usually it's more like 15 out of 25. Some vendors bump three or four threads at time. Even in the tech section. .

I agree that a couple do but I think it's a stretch to say that most of them do. Unless your counting the help they provide for their own products. In my 6+ years here 97% of the help I have received is by other owners. The other 3% were probably vendors but I can't remember ever seeing a lot of threads by those guys.
Now if becoming a supporting member meant we could hide threads completely from users of our choice? I would pay for that every year.
