Good job, keep it up.
I quit (for good) on my 40th birthday. I convinced myself that every time I reached for a ciggy, I was being just plain stupid. I'm also convinced I would not be alive today if I had not quit 28 years ago,
I quit smoking when I was on the way to the ER after my first heart attack...12 years ago and SO HAPPY I don't have that addiction anymore. My Corvettes love me! As a matter of fact, I can now buy a Corvette (s) with the money I don't waste going up in smoke!
My C5 helped me quit smoking. When I bought it I vowed to never smoke in it. I kept eliminating opportunities to smoke until it was easier to quit than to keep smoking. Personally I don't believe in Nicorettes and other nicotine replacements; I think they just keep the addiction alive. Now when I see people smoking I feel Like Martin Luther King: "Free at last - Thank God I'm free at last!"
Might be spam but it hit up on a good point. My desire to give up the nasty habit is hinged on the fact that I refuse to smoke in my vettes. I do still light up occassionally in my xjs but it's ragged out anyway (like most british cars end up). I keep telling myself that if I have the willpower to not smoke in cars I love then I can stop contaminating the lungs I love but it's the hardest thing I've ever done....and I was once quite familiar with colombian marching powder in my youth. I swear nicotine is the absolute worst.
Just read an article in this morning's paper about electronic cigarettes causing either diminished lung capacity or a disease like cancer. Better check that out before you continue to use those things.
Here's a little-known tidbit of information that might help some of you stop smoking before it's too late:
A rare and little-known genetic disease called Beurger's Disease is only triggered by smoking or tobacco chewing. This disease ultimately results in the loss of fingers and toes, and possibly hands and feet, if the afflicted does not quit in time.
I have this disease. Two weeks of buproban (generic Zyban) and I haven't even so much as thought about touching any kind of tobacco.
The kicker? There is no way to know if you have this disease until you're already showing signs.
