rear wheel or crankshaft?
Safe also depends on what you're working with? 100,000 mile engine or 25,000 mile engine?
If you want a 125hp increase, it's going to cost you. Heads and cam is the way with supporting mods(like longtube headers and intake).
Another way is FI like a supercharger.
Another way is NOS...
Safe isn't something you can plan on...things happen no matter what the path you choose.
What have you done already and what's the engines condition now?

I have a 97 with 29,000 miles on it. I've put a wcc Xpipe and Borla straight pipes on it. Otherwise it's completely stock.

put a blower on it and keep it around 8 psi, get it tuned by someone who knows what they are doing.

Yes, you need to specify whether you are talking WHP, or crank (flywheel) HP. Big difference.

You will need a 2001 or newer intake a small cam and a cheap
set of heads (Patriot) and you will have 425hp. Sc(FI) will be
more expensive (for more hp).

Heads, cam, intake, headers and good CAI air filter should get you there.

Also, do you want just a high hp "number" or do you want to run a certain time in the 1/4?
Driveability?

Thanks guys. While the car is plenty fast enough I have a few friends with gt500's I love to smoke on the streets. I just want to know that if most people want to run I won't be outdone. Plain and simple.

Let me know if you want a steal on an LS2 intake. I have one available but just have been too lazy to post in for sale yet.
