Default Front air dams

I have a question about the air dams in the front , the middle one on my car came loose and luckily fell off in the garage so I still have it and the other 2 are still in place, is this going to affect the cooling on my engine? I know they have to be there for a reason but does anyone else take them off? It looks as though I will have to probably buy a new set or a good used one due to damage on mine. Thanks to everyone for your time and help!

The C5 is engineered as a bottom feeder when it comes to air intake. The center section is designed to route air up through your radiator so you should replace it. A full, quality aftermarket kit that contains the corner sections is less than $100 so it's a good investment.

Another option would be for him to see if he can pick up and install a big mouth cold air intake/duct and keep the current 2 side rubber pieces. As long as he's not too low the big mouth is pretty good at funneling fresh air into the radiator. here's something I found on the internet with information about them. (hope it's OK to share these sorts of links) http://www.c4orcecorvette.com/ I have one that I just haven't had the time to install yet...but I have heard good things about them from a couple of people.

Default Damn air dams !

Well the center section is held on with 4 10mm screws and the sides by 4 - #8 sheet metal screws each, The side ones on mine rub every time I back out of the driveway, so I bought a completely new GM sets so in the furture if they wear down or fall off I have replacements. But the air dam setup is vital to the cooling of your C5. I too, would go with the 'Bigmouth' but even the stock one is great, but running without the air dam in all it's sections is a very bad idea.

I would at least put the center piece back on. The side pieces are for aerodynamic purposes and I would just keep them on there since you still have them in place.

Here's one place. They sell the center section individually, if that's what you want.
