dead battery
I have a 2000 A4 conv. Just returned from vacation and battery is completely dead. I can't get it to charge or jump. Can it be removed without losing computer? I started to unscrew the positive cable and it made some noises near the front wheel well so I retightened the cable.
I was going to take th battery out and have it tested. Ideas on how to proceed?
Thanks

remove the negative cable first. Then the positive. Yes there is no other way to replace it.
You will have to reset everything like radio etc, but the computer will be fine.
When you replace it, replace the positive first, then the negative.

Then get a battery maintainer, and use it when your C5 sits for more than 3 days. These C5's use a lot of battery.

Check for a draw with a test light between the terminal and cable. Mine was a glove comp light.

Bill Curley has lots of great info on testing electrical issues on these things. I think that's his hobby is tearing the electrical systems down and rebuilding them, (every night after dinner).
