I am wondering if anyone knows about power chips that claim up to 60 more hp and better gas mileage? Are these claims for real because all it says to do is hook it up and go and it will reprogram the ECU so my question is do these work as claimed ? I am looking at one from GFchips.com thanks for all of your help.
No don't do it, they are a waste of money. There is now way you are getting that kind of power gain out of a simple plug n play "chip" Hell, you wouldn't even get that kind of power out of a custom dyno tune for that matter, not without adding some mods.

The 97 computer can't be flashed and a chip can help. But avoid the scams like this one and stick to a well known brand like superchip or jet. You'll see about the same gain a hand held tuner will give you.

Guess I'm misinformed. Thought I read people were switching to newer computers so they could program them. Thought you couldn't use a hypertech or predator handheld.
