Did my first wave in my 71 big block back in 79. Also had a 79 HD Low Rider, pretty cool bike back then and pretty much the standard copied bike of the ricers today as far as looks. There where not many Harleys on the road back in those days compared to now but for the ones that did have them it was not cool to wave at a ricer, it was a Harley thing. It was not hard to tell the difference going down the road, the ricers wore a flowered t-shirt and tennis shoes and a fancy Bell helmet. The Harley guys wore engineering boots, wore out work boots, denim jackets with no sleeves with the Eagle and a flat black beat up helmet with the sticker "Helmet laws suck".
driving my dad's 1969 427 corvette when i was 17..knowing if i saw another corvette i had to wave..well i did ..and got one back....11 years later i continue to do the same in my C5 Z06!!

Just wondering, after driving the big block if you can remember which car seems faster, the 69 or the Z06? I had a 69 400 hp and 70 390 hp and to me he C5 with 6 speed seems faster not that I drive fast to often. Also I think horse power was rated differently back then. They were great cars in their day but I guess they are just two different animals.
I got my first Corvette wave in 2000 when I was learning how to drive on my dad's 85 Vette. Good times. My dad told me about the wave before we even got in the car and started my first lesson.
BTW, my first lesson in the Vette wasn't on the streets. My dad took me to a big open parking lot and taught me how to do brake stands, power slides, burn-outs, fish tails, emergency stops, donuts, etc... He said that he wanted me to know how to do these things because he already knew I'd be trying them without him and he wanted me to know how to control the car and know what to expect in these situations.

well we have messed around a few times ..and i am faster as of now.i am not stock...the old 69 rat feels very torquey off the line..to where my z06 feels just goes..but like you said two very different animals
Well my first vette wave was to a guy in a vert c5 in a parking lot and I guess he thought Iwas calling him out to race because he followed me onto the highway and stayed on my rear and then flew by me. Has anyone experience a friendly wave turn into a street race?

No, but I HAVE heard that you should never flash your headlights at an oncoming car with their headlights off.
