[QUOTE=Sinister-one;1581886407]Once again... nice car, wrong idea. That's a "street / strip race car.

I'm wanting to do mine as a "pro-touring" style of car. Let me break this down for all of you that aren't grasping the concept....

Basically, the car will be lowered with 19x11's or 12's in the rear and 18x9.5's in the front, all the suspension will be redone so the car handles and rides the same as my FRC. Looking at an LSX based 427 or 454 stroker with a S/C'er, trans will be a 6-speed and the rearend will be a ford 9" with 3.57 gears for street / daily driving and a spare pumpkin with a set of 4.10 for the strip. Car will have full interior, very nice and comfortable touring / racing seats, roll cage, AC and a full stereo system.

Look and have a stance very similar to THIS.

I understood, just giving you a different approach. As for your desires, unless you can fabricate or have really good friend/s that can fabricate this project is going to get really expensive. Detroit Speed has a kit that allows wider tires and wheels in the rear. The leaf springs from the factory are marginal at best and you may even want to switch to a four link with coils. The entire front will have to be replaced and many full front frame options are available. Even with all of that, you will be hard pressed to get C5 handling from a first gen F body. Good luck and have fun.

RAY, RAY, RAY!!! Say it isn't so!! Not another C5 owner bailing out, and a WHITE FRC at that!!

Just messing with ya bud. Gotta do what makes you happy though, so go for it.

From having dealt with you in the past, I know how you are about your FRC and your approach to mods, etc and whoever gets it will be getting a well cared for car.

I agree with Z06ster, if you do this you better be coming back around here to say hi or check in from time to time......

Robert, you crack me up !!

As my first post says.....

I'm considering this, haven't decided yet. One of the big things is that I love working on my own cars. The 69 Camaro would be SO EASY to work on vs the FRC. Example, to replace the clutch (on the 69), simply remove the driveshaft and pull the tranny.
One the FRC, pull exhaust, undo torque tube from engine and drop ENTIRE REAR SUSPENSION... Tell me that's not a pain in the A$$ !!! You know what I mean. And something as simple as changing the oil... Car has to be up on all 4 corners with a slight rake to the front so the oil drains out "THE FRONT OF THE PAN", how stupid is that !! The GM engineer that came up with the placement of the drain plug should be SHOT !

Those Pro-Touring cars are sweet! Your car show options will definitely open up if you choose to go to some of the Goodguys events. If my street rod was one of those, I would still have it.

Good luck!

Very seldom do I go to car shows. When I do, it's to watch and not participate.

Yeah, I hear ya on some of the maintenance items however in fairness to the Vettes, they are designed to sit very low for cornering/handling purposes so some tradeoffs are expected I guess. Besides, not having to deal with points/condensers/setting timing/carburetors, etc is worth something too. They each do have their good points though.

Btw, I think I completely understand the particular concept or version of a PT you have in mind. It's one that I personally like as well.

Go for it! I plan to do the same in the next year or so but haven't figured out a way to keep the vette too!

Lol, I never said it was I was just saying I've been there (as in owning a Camaro) I thought about setting mine up in the pro-touring style, as I have wheel connections and whatnot. However I didn't want to drop a ton of money into it as mine is a weekend car (having 3 other cars and a motorcycle)
