Inside an enclosure sitting out, surface mounted, or start cutting away the steel frame back there.
Or you could just buy a nice quality speaker that fits.
There's actually enough room, but the grilles won't fit a 6x9 no matter what you do. If I wanted more surface area, I'd add another set back further in the rear of the car. And let the originals alone.
I'm not a fan of rear speakers. It just presents a confusing sound stage and they go away anyways with the top down. I'd rather put the money in quality front components. I run JL C5 components in the doors with the tweeters mounted behind the door latches pointing up and back. A JL 10w3 in a stealth box and all powered by an HD600x4 JL with 150 ro each door and 300 to the sub. I get a lot of compliments on the sound quality.
