What belts did you go with? I changed belts first thing when having belt chirps as well. After replacing both idlers and tensioners it ended up being the belts still because of the flaw in the design of the pulleys. The ribs are not deep enough, or the ribs are too long on the belts. Anyways, used Goodyear gatorback belts and the problem went away for good.
If you keep chasing squeaks, try gatorback belts. They work great.
That's a good question, I think they are gates. Purchased them from Napa. It's definitely the ac system, removed the main belt squeak was still there, removed the ac belt and squeak was gone. I did ask the partsman at Napa for the gatorbacks and his reply was "we can't get them". So I just went with the gates. After I installed the new belts the squeak was gone... For a little while. Couple days later out for a drive and pulled a couple shifts up around 5000rpm's and the squeak came back. So my thinking is the bearings in the pulleys are dried out and don't like the extra load placed on them from higher rpm's. What do you think? Once I change the pulleys I will let you know how it turns out.

Give it a try, but that's exactly what mine did. New belts fixed if for awhile, then it came back. after replacing everything the squeak came back again. It was the new belts still squeaking. If that happens, order gatorbacks online and you will be good to go.
I ebay things when I can.. very cheap, but maybe some vendors have them.
thanks for your help and time. i may have found the Gatorback's at my local "Canadian Tire" outlet, going to have to go out there and see.
doing a little more research on the forum and one other problem seems to be causing some squealing, the harmonic dampener. i sure hope that is not my problem. i do remember looking at the balancer while my engine was running and did not notice any wobble.

Inspect the ac tensioner bracket housing. The bolt that secures it can cause noise.

That's where I found mine for the best prices.
OP: Also wire-brush/clean the grooves on your pulleys and crank balancer. Don't just assume that because they "look OK", they don't warrant cleaning. Dirt/sand/grit can get embeded in the grooves and not be readily apparent with a quick look.

that's a good tip there! thanks i am guilty of just giving it the quick look, i will make sure after i change to the new pulleys that i clean the others before belt reinstall.
