A) If you can feel that the shocks don't "damp" the jounce or rebound oscillations (1 to 1.5 oscillations per bump)

It's so hard to say really. It depends on your roads, driving style, mileage and severity of any accidents it's been in. Shocks are such a gradual wear item that it's just about impossible to say Replace them at X mileage... but most folks when they do replace them can't believe the difference it makes in the attitude of the car.
We generally recommend about 50,000 miles for OEM shocks unless you're replacing them for performance reasons. Our Johnny O'Connell Stage 1 shock replacements should last that long since they're built by the OEM shock manufacturer ZF Sachs.
