I did a lot by shoping and being patient. I scored a brand new drivers window on ebay for 100 bucks....still in the GM packaging. Set of absolutely like new OE seat covers from here for $275.

But I agree that some cosmetic or non essential things can wait. My vert top is showing some wear but that won't be cheap no matter how you slice it. And no one notices when it's down. I discovered an alternate source for the TPMS but would have to pay to have them installed. So I too live with some things.

Including tools and equipment you can do a vert top for under $600. Might be able to do $500 if you already have the tools. I just finished mine and I'm very happy with it. Had never done one before, there's nothing to it. With your experience, it would be like changing your shirt.

$500-600 isn't THAT bad, but it's just one of those things that adds up when you include other small repairs.
I'm sure I'll eventually replace the top when it REALLY needs it (I can count on both hands how many times I've driven with the top up anyway).
It's one of the compromises I made for getting the car for as cheap as I did, knowing it had a few little things that needed to be fixed.

Might even pick up an effective 10whp increase by greasing the windshield while you're at it!
I will give it a try.....the grease on the side windows, of course.

LOL!!!

I'll find out in a week or so. I'll be under it changing the oil and I will check it for sure.

I was able to get all of this except:
torque tube bearings
torque tube bushings
differential
trans mounts

for 1675 after tax, not installing myself. The bushings and bearings and mounts should be pretty easy to include in since I believe that they are taking all of that stuff off anyway. Does the differential cost that much?

It should also be noted that I put an ls7 clutch kit in. Not just the stock one. But good luck to you bud. It sucks not being able to drive it.

well i drive it around the block every now and then just to keep the seals fresh. new diff is 1200 bucks. i'll actually be doing an ls6 clutch. the tt bushings and bearings are very expensive also. also forgot to mention that ill be installing an aluminum flywheel. i did this analysis over a year ago, so maybe prices have dropped since then. my problem is that i refuse to replace anything with nothing but the best available components.
