This year I attended quite a few car shows, maybe 15 or so? I really enjoy meeting new people and love the atmosphere of the shows and sometimes I get a trophy. Anyhow, this past weekend I went to two shows.
Saturday's show had a Corvette class so I competed against all Corvettes which I knew means no winning there. A new Corvette just can't compete against the old ones and sure enough, a 54 and two 60's won the trophies. The 54 also took best of show.
Sunday's show had only five classes and mine fell into the 1964 and Up top 40 class. Again, I would be competing against all the old cars so no winning there. There was about 350 cars there and over 110 in my class alone. Come trophy time, I listened to the cars that were getting the trophies. All were in the 60's and 70's era. They read off about 35 of the 40 cars when they announced my name. Really?!? They gave me a top 10 trophy! I was so happy. I was the only one with a newer car that won. Considering there had to be at least 50 newer cars there, getting a trophy was very special to me. It was a great way to end this year's car show season.
Some pictures from this year:
Took 1st this day.
Next year I'm thinking of not attending the Hot Rod Power Tour and spend more time around Missouri going to shows. I never care about winning but I like to see what others have done to their car and the road trips are nice.
Congratulation. That looks like some loud sound system. Very nice.
Thanks and yes, it's loud but set up for sound quality. Here is a picture of the speakers up front.
Congrats! That is a nice audio system but where do you fit the golf clubs?!
You don't I have another Corvette that is my daily driver. It has way more horse power than my blue one.
Congrats, you must love loud music and chrome.LOL
Thanks and I do but all engine covers are polished stainless steel which is a pain to keep looking nice. I'm actually considering painting some of the panels.
Congrats on the awards. Great looking car you have.
You have a nice car.
