Mine shoots HD video, has awesome battery life, and is relatively intuitive. The mounting solutions are excellent (suction cup). The buttons are at times frustrating, but easy to use. The Go Pro's downfall is taking video at night. Other than that, I'm extremely happy with its picture, video, and sound quality.
Make sure the quality is 1080p on youtube!

On the second video, how is it mounted? Suction cupped to the rear window? I've been wanting to get a go pro and mount it in between/behind the seats on that 'hump' area
Here are a couple of the pictures that it takes. Very nice quality, and very wide angle.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Get the Hero2 (there are 2 kinds - Hero (naked) and Hero2). I bought the Outdoor edition as the Motorsport wasn't in stock. Bought the suction cup mount, extra battery pac and the extra LCD bac pac (you can use either the extra battery OR the LCD screen but not both at the same time. The LCD screen allows you to see exactly what you're filming and also lets you watch what you've recorded so far. Also bought a mini AV-to-RCA plug from the auction site for $5. This allows for playback on a TV (like at a hotel) or you can buy a mini HDMI cable for like $30 - I chose the cheap way! It recharges via USB so I got both a USB wall charger plug-in and a USB car charger - both are a must have and are cheap. You'll also need a SD C10 card - get a 32g.
Also if you play with your camera in the water, buy some type of floaty to connect to the case (GoPro sells one) so WHEN you drop it, it will float! Ask me how I learned my lesson.... - if you find one at Laguna Beach L.A., that would be mine!!
Extra options that I have not got (yet..!) are a remote and a second Hero2 to make 3D movies!
There's lots of YouTube vids on how to make other creative mounts and also anti-vibration mounts.
I was looking at other HD models but decided to go with GoPro because of all the options and mounts that are available right now.
A few vids that I've done with them. Make sure the playback settings (lower right) are set to 1080p.

If you are looking for a waterproof, ruggedized HD video camera that has a built in display and a standard tripod screw mount, here's what I suggest - the Kodak PlaySport ZX5. They're available for about $80 on Amazon.com ( http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss...laysport%20zx5 ) and are hard to beat in terms of bang for the buck, when combined with a Panavise suction cup mount (Less than $25, works with any lightweight camera with a standard screw thread - http://www.amazon.com/Panavise-809-C...0428727&sr=8-1 )
I'm not sure if I can answer all of your questions about the Go Pro..onething I can tell you is that you will have a blast with one my wife got mine 2 years ago for Christmas at that time to my knowledge it was just a basic record only small camera that came wit a water proof case
And 3 different forms of mounting the camera
Helmet holder
Handle bar holder
Dash mount
I have since learned from going to a motor speedway last with the car that the Go Pro has came a long much further I was the dude with the out of date or so I thougt
For those of us that have the basic ( Best Buy ) one that cost $225.00 you can now add a larger battery pack, and that option there is now a playback as like a hand hold camera that you can now stop ff or rewind what you just shot and to make it even better it has a remote control with it ...
Really
I went to Texas Motor Speedway with club that I belong to here in Texas last year we got to take 4 laps around the track at each session not to exceed 120 mph anyway one of the members could tell I was having a hard time trying the video shot that I wanted so he offered to put the suction cup ( 10 inches in height ) on his truck lid and let me video tape myself going around the track all the while I could stop it and start it while inside my car
I know I'm rambling on and on but for around a total of $350-425 you would have a nice set up
And for us iPad user user it has a small device that you plug into where the power cord goes and boom it's instant video ........
Hope this helps guys
Anyways, one more camera to add to the mix!
I would also think that this announcement will mean really good deals for Hero2 coming up. Something to think about.

I have both cameras, the Drift HD and the GoPro Hero2. The GoPro is way better picture/video quality.
The only thing the Drift was better at was price.
I'm actually planning on upgrading...AGAIN...to the Hero3 Black Edition when it becomes available. The processor is twice as fast, better optics, way higher FPS (720p at 120fps - holy shiznit!), smaller (2.X ounces, 20mm thick), better in every way. It costs more ($400) but after selling my Hero 2 it won't hurt the wallet so bad...
Sample video at Road America from this past year (hit speeds of 14X MPH on the straights; camera mounted on top of the roof with suction cup mount):
Here's my Youtube channel for all my videos, most done with either GoPro Hero or Hero2 (all the widescreen vids were done with a Hero):

with everything Must_Have_Z stated. I have a GoPro Hero 2 and the thing is phenomenal. The suction cup mount that comes with it can literally go anywhere you want it to go, as long as the surface is smooth. I also plan on upgrading to the Hero 3 and still keep my Hero 2. Should make it nice for doing multiple angle shots for some videos. As far as the Sony Action Cam I cannot speak from experience with regards to using it, but I know that another user on YouTube, HighTechCorvette, has one and he likes it more than the GoPro Hero 2.
I do have some videos of my old '94 Vette that were filmed with my Hero 2 that are on my YouTube channel. http://youtube.com/user/1994c4vette
Now I'll definitely have to get the Hero 3 Black Edition. However, if I still can't find the Hero 2 today, I'm going to go out and pick up the Sony Action Cam and make a video with that.
