Strange.... I'm not sure...

They were not on my 2004 Z06 when I did my Fast 92 install.

Yeah it's strange, but I have seen them on tons of cars. I think they come from the factory that way. We're you the original owner? If not I wonder if someone before you removed them. I don't see any reason for them to be there other than something from the factory. I mean all it is is a plastic strap, I don't see why I couldn't remove them

I bought my car new in March 04 (04 Z06).

However.... I have had full heads/cam etc..... Engine work done by LG's. I never removed anything, but it might be possible that back in 2006 when I had my engine work the white clips were removed by LG's ?

Maybe someone with a Virgin car can look. My car is my HO, and its lost its clips more than once....

Could it be possible that a GM dealer put the clips there for a customer complaining of an engine issue ? The dealer used the clips as "markers" if the customer was trying to cheat the dealer out of parts ?

Haha funny,
It may be used as a marker like you suggested. I bought the car used and honestly I don't have a clue what's been done to it other than the obvious. The car has longtubes, xpipe, catback, cai, shifter, struts and shocks, catch can, I know it's been tuned because it passes emissions with no check engine lights on, fans come on sooner than factory. maybe all factory cars come with them to notify gm if the motors has been tampered with. Hopefully someone will chime in with some knowledge. What cam did you go with and what kind of numbers did it produce?

If you're talking about the white thing in the picture, the are there to make sure the connector stays plugged in.. I could never figure out the point, but they put them on lots of things.. like o2 sensors and fuel injectors and stuff.. basically you need to pull it out before you can disconnect the connector from the coil..

I researched a lot back in the day for what I wanted. I focused my build on parts that would increase my Torque as much as my HP. I also wanted something drivable on the street. I did not want a drastic sized cam. I'm very happy with my choices and my numbers turned out pretty decent I think.

Every car will dyno a little different, but after a tune you should be in the range I was on Dyno #2 above.

yeah,
I agree. The car has been tuned but it was before I owned it so I really don't know where it's at. I remember when I first got it I thought it was so fast. Now that I'm used to it it doesn't feel as fast anymore. As far as I want to go is a good cam package on top of what has already been done. I just really love the way the car looks, sounds and handles. I kind of want an all around package that is still streetable and reliable. Would you say yours is pretty streetable?

EXTREMELY street able. I can cruise at 45mph at about 1150 rpm in 6th gear and it just puuuurs down the road, and even up hills. No bucking, no surging. No issues like some large cams have. I have had my heads/cam setup for 6.5 yrs now (about 20K miles on heads/cam setup). Never let me down yet (knock on wood).

How's the idle sound? If I'm going to spend the money on a cam I want it to at least like it has one

I think I figured out what they are for. I started looking more closely and it looks like they are some sort of lock for the harness that plugs into the coil pack. Kind of like a safety on a gun, these plastic locks keep the wiring harness from coming unplugged do to vibration ect.
