Well, after months of speculation, finally found out my mysterious front leak. I first thought it was AT or DIFF, but it was coolant. My buddy, who's a tech at local dealership put it up on a lift and saw that it was the water pump. He checked the radiator and it was fine. I went on GM part house web site and couldn't find the part. Found one at Mid America for $169. Not sure if its OEM. I guess the search continues.....
Thanks J...Saw in catalog for Mid America from May for $299 and $169 in the new Fall catalog? Wonder if they are the same pump? Dealership wanted $275.
Are u sure it's the water pump ? But not the water pump gasket ... That happened to me couple of years ago all I did removed the w pump and used some rv red hi temp selicone and no leak ever since...
He said that it was coming from the water pump. DK how to check if its just the gasket. Hate to spend on a new pump and find out its just the gasket. Thanks for the advice.
Got mine for $140 at napa, easy to change, remove the power duct & belt, there are 3 bolts in a triangle pattern on each side of pump, remove those and it come right off, remove the old thermostat and install in new pump and reinstall, took me a me a little over a hour.
I did mine last year, got it at Monument Car Parts, I think $169. Here's a trick if you are doing the install by yourself.. Get two rubber bands and on the NEW pump, stick the 3 screws on one side and then the 3 screws on the other side. Have the screws stick out past the back side of the pump about 1/2, put the gaskets on, put a rubber band on the nut side of the scews that will pull the screws together spreading the bolts and holding the gasket from falling off. Put the water pump and hold it up to the engine block and start screwing the bolts into the block, then when their on , break the rubber bands and tighten.. Works for me all by myself...
