What was the first year it was offered? 2001
Was it an extra cost option? NO!
Cost of mod red option? Zero dollars
Exterior colors it could be paired with?
Body style limitations? It appears the full treatment was Z06 only
Seat type limitations? Base model seats
I don't have the answers so it's not a test . Hoping some of you can fill in the blanks.
I have added what I have gleaned from today which may or may not be 100% accurate.

I think the mod red interior first came out on the 2001 Z06 and was a no cost option. I haven't heard of it being offered on the coupe or vert, but I could be wrong. My source was the Corvette Black Book and it doesn't go into a lot of detail on this.

That is correct. The "Mod Red" interior included red lower door panels, red glovebox, red lower driver's knee bolster and red/black standard Z06 seats (not sport seats). Coupes and verts had a red interior option that included red lower door panels, red glovebox, red lower driver's knee bolster, red trim, red seatbelts, red carpet and red seats. (I think I listed all parts). The main difference being that the "Mod Red" option maintained the black carpet and black trim/seat belts.
All coupe/vert C5s with the exception of the Anniversary Edition in 2004 and the Commemorative Edition in 2004, had black dashboards and upper door panels. The Anniversary and Commemorative editions had a two-tone shale interior.
I thought the red interior color of the Z06s was torch red (like the exterior) and not mod red.
That is correct. I just checked my 2004 brochure and it lists "Torch Red Leather Seating Surfaces" (coupe & convertible) and "Black/Torch Red Leather Seating Surfaces" (Z06).
I thought the red interior color of the Z06s was torch red (like the exterior) and not mod red.
I used mod red to denote the two tone red and black interior option not mod red as a color. I thought the term "mod red" was universally understood in the C5 community as the twp tone interior option. Not sure where the term came from but I picked it up on the forum.
John, I have the order sheet of our '01Z06 dated Sep 29, 2000. The paint is code 70U Torch Red the interior is code is 704 Torch Red Leather Trimmed but written in Torch Red/Black leather. This is a early car that may not be the correct code on the int.
We will be at the NCM starting Thr. For the Vets in Vettes gathering. Not far from you.

Thanks for the info, with all the knowledge on this board I was surprised that someone didn't have "chapter and verse" on the the mod red option. Most interesting thing I've learned so far was that it was a no cost option. How often does that happen? Enjoy your weekend coming up I think the weather is going to co-operate.

Mod red color is Torch Red, The difference in Mod red and Torch red was the seats, The Mod Red had black and red seats and the torch red had all red seats.
Does that make sense?

Perfect sense.
In addition, as MSG C5 stated earlier in his post, the mod red and the torch red seats were exclusive to the ZO6 and the coupe/vert, respectively.

Also per MSG C5 in the coupe/vert if you had the torch red the carpet (along with the sills and other trim??) would be red also, where they are black in the Z06's.

Not sure that's correct...
My '02 Z06 has red and black seats (and black carpet, red knee bolster, glove box, and two tone red/black doors). Here's what the window sticker says:
Exterior - TORCH RED
Interior - Z06 INTERIOR - TORCH RED

Check out your seat options, It must be listed because torch red seat will be all red as far as I have ever seen. If you have the black carpet also you have what is called Mod Red.

Nope!
I think what you're saying is true for non-Z06 cars.

My understanding is, all the bright reds used in the interiors is Torch Red. Mod red is not a color of red but an option in Z06 cars that had the two tone seats with black carpets instead of red.

I have a 2001 quicksilver vert with torch red interior. Seats are all red, non sport. Have never seen another one like it.
