Default 2001 Z06 Rebuild Thread

Bought a wrecked 01 Z06 earlier this year and am just beginning to start on it now. Not much to share for now but I will continue to update the thread along the way until it is done. Will be cutting the front frame and replacing it with a good clip so we are pulling the engine. Figured we would do that since we will be swapping H/C/I so that will happen while it is out. Should be a fun project and I am looking forward to spending the time with the old man wrenching on it. Anyway here it is as of now.

Have a good lady friend at my old work, her uncle runs a body shop and came across a wrecked '03 MS Z...dude had spun it and contacted all four corners with something hard. He rebuilt it nice and straight, and gave it to her when she had beat cancer. Its her pride and joy. I help her learn more about it and doing some small mods.

Look forward to the process!

Thanks guys! That is awesome. I bet she does love it. Nothing like having something with some sentimental value to it.

One thing is for sure, you really know your car after a project like this. Wish my son lived close enough to help me finish up some projects like that!

Thanks guys! Will be updating again with more progress later this week. Here is the latest pics of the progress.

Here is the replacement frame thanks to Marc@Vettenuts. We can salvage the passenger frame rail on the car since it only has minimal damage around the front bar that we removed. It will also keep the Vin # the same on the car as it is stamped on that rail.

Good to see a family project like this. There is nothing like turning wrenches with dad.

Also Pikeville KY is where i was born and have family there so we come to visit a few times per year. Maybe i can stop in and see the progress.

Let me know what else you need and we will take care of you.

Marc
