Just got home this morning with my new 24,000 mile 2004 black Z06 from Nashville after a pleasant road trip back from the original owner's home. After owning two C4s this is my third Corvette and I love it. The drive home was fun and the car ran flawlessly. I bought it from the original owner who had just purchased a 2012 Z06. My first impression is that this will be much easier to get in and out of than my old 1990 and the seat is MUCH more comfortable. He just put new Michelin PS2s on it and they appear to be very good tires so far in every respect. Except for the wheels it is 100% stock. It also has the divider behind the driver and trunk which I'm not sure about, but he said it keeps the cockpit much quieter. My wife says I'm like a kid with a new toy and can't believe the difference in comfort and performance over my old C4. I've learned a lot from reading the posts on here. Will post pictures after I clean the Vette up. Hello to all! Does the 2004 have the same valve spring issues as the earlier Z06s?
Welcome to the forum....,
Ok this is like the third time in the past few days that the two words
Valve Spring has popped up , mine are aftermarket but I would still like to know what's up ?

ExploreCongrats on the z, I personally like the feel of the c4 seats. The z06 is a performance machine.
There have been a few spring failures some catostrophic I have seen with my own eyes in the 2004. The job is very simple and is cheap, even cheaper if you do it yourself.
The failures do not appear to be as prevalent in the 04 vs 02-03. My suggestion is to change them just to be on the safe side and for peace while sleeping at night.
Have fun be safe and do not allow other so called sports cars such as...well I will not stoop to their level. Temp one to spanking their as*** while enjoying a cruise.
