C5 Radios

Will be interesting to see if the newer radio is just a plug and play in the older cars.
Who told you it was a hassle?

1. Lift the center console lid. Remove the two nut covers at the rear of the compartment and remove the nuts. Remove the insert with the "active handling" option. Remove the two nuts. Now, remove the console compartment. Disconnect all of the electrical. It is plug and play.
2. Remove the ash tray. Unscrew the torque screw. Just to the left of that screw, you will find a second torque screw and remove it.
3. Just to the left of the key cylinder you will see a blank insert. Remove it and then unscrew the screw.
4. If you have a stick shift, remove **** and then the boot. (I have a stick shift.)
Now, you should be able to remove the entire radio forward portion of the console and radio bezel to have access to the radio.
Here is a link for installing HUD. If you follow along, it will tell you how to remove the console.

I have seen some cars only having two
The one behind the ash tray was sometimes never put in

But

I was saying that what you posted about 3 screws is not entirely correct.
SOME have 2 is what I said.

The early cars had cassette players. I gave my CD version from my 02 to a friend and it was a plug and play replacement for his cassette version.
