WOW Dave,,glad you caught it when you did!! Gives me the ******* just picturing it in my mind! The metal container outside sounds like a REALLY good idea. Now get out and take that baby out for a drive and let her know how fortunate she is to still be on the road!!

I'll give her a treat and scrub her up for the Xmas Party!
3 years ago, a neighbor a mile up the road from me built a new house. Had his new truck in the garage. Threw ashes into the back of the truck into the bedliner. Caught the bedliner and subsequently the rest of the truck on fire. Burn the house to the ground.
Insurance covered it. Rebuilt the house, replaced vehicles and contents.
That winter, same guy took the ashes out of the woodstove, threw them into the bedliner of the truck, caught the truck on fire, and burnt the house to the ground.
Insurance covered it again... Don't ask me how that works.
So, in a period of 3 years, he's had 3 brand new houses... 3 Brand new trucks...
A woman took out four mail boxes over a month ago one of them was mine, I got a letter from her car insurance they aren't going to pay they say it isn't her fault. Some how its my fault??
Five years ago a kid took out a pole he hit it so hard it pulled the service right off the house we rent out. That kids insurance said it wasn't his fault so they wouldn't pay. I guess this was also my fault??
The guy down the road from you must have family in the insurance business.

Honestly, that's more incredible to me than the houses above being paid for. I'm also surprised that your insurance company didn't go after them. On principal, I'd have followed that up to the max. If it took the local TV news, they'd pay.

Well the one 5 years ago our insurance said its not worth fighting, and they wouldn't cover it. We went to the kids insurance agent they blew us off. Time is money, and sad to say sometimes you have to cut your losses.
The mail box its $75 bucks we are still fighting it but they know after awhile we will give up. Like I already said time is money so how much time would you spend for $75? My Lawyer told me years ago insurance companies make their money by not paying.
I've had other issues with insurance companies but its to much to type.
