And it's a Hard top or Fixed Roof Coupe (FRC) whichever you prefer to call it..... it's the most visible difference from a distance...

The FRC debuted as a C5 in 99 as the Hard Top. In 2001 it became the platform for the ZO6. Since then ALL hard tops are ZO6s.
What this means is that it has no removable roof. The coupe is something like a targa in that the top band over the driver/passenger can be removed for open-top driving. The FRC and ZO6 cars have no such option. The roof is a permanent part of the car's structure and lends some more stability to the frame. This is good for the ZO6 since it is a road course kind of car - so it is stiffer for the turns.
Appearance-wise, the FRC / ZO6 roof line is similar to that of the Convertibles when the top is up. It does not taper off in a long line like the Coupe's rear glass glass. The FRC / ZO6 also does not have the trunk lid incorporated into the rear hatch. It is a separate panel all its own. Again, like the convertible.
Some people don't like the snub look to the roof that you get with a FRC / ZO6. At first I did not like it at all. But I guess it grew on me. I still "prefer" the coupe's roof lines on the car, but the FRC roofline looks pretty cool now too.

FRC (hardtop) only became available in 1999 and 2000.

If it's a 98 or later Convertable, you may purchase a removable hardtop. http://www.caravaggiocorvettes.com/next.htm
In '97, they did not make convertables, if I remember correctly. :seeya
