I have a new brake light and it appears the best way to remove the old one is through the adjacent rear lights but does anybody know the size of the bolts at either end that need to be removed please?
Not sure but it's easy to access the bolts once you have the tail lamp or the plate out. You can do it by trial and error.
This is the book procedure:
Third Brake Light Replacement
Remove one of the tail lamps
You can get to the 3rd brake lamp unit through the tail light opening
Disconnect the electrical connector from the stop lamp
Remove the screws holding the lamp to the rear fascia
Take out the old lamp
Fit the new lamp in the rear fascia housing
Loosely fit the screws
Align the new lamp
Tighten the screws
Reconnect the electrical connector
Reinstall the tail lamp
If you prefer you can remove the rear plate and plate housing which gives better access.
I just replaced mine tonight and after removing the license plate/back up bracket i was able to reach up through the 2 large holes on the bottom. It was 2 7MM bolts to remove. went quite well and looks awesome...
