Looking to buy a 1998 conv with 52000 miles or 1999 conv with 71000 miles. Both are same price and are tripple black. The 99 needs conv top rear window repair.Glue came undone. Which would be better choice.
Buy the lower mileage car. The two cars use virtually the same technology.
Major updates took pace in 2001. The 98 may have the EBCM mounted in the rear instead of the front, but they even use the same unit, just in a different position.
Whichever one floats your boat. Lower mileage is good, year newer wouldn't hurt resale.
I've had a 98 for the last 5 years and took her from 20K to 120K miles. Very reliable.
98 is the first year for convertible - might mean something to someone. Might mean something else to someone else.

Does the 99 have the HUD display? I believe it came out in 99 and is a great upgrade. That being said, I have a 98 and have little repairs done to it even thogh it had 120K on it (mostly dealer miles). I reversed engineered and installed the HUD and LS6 intake which are rather easy and fun to do.
So as the guys said, check each out and go with the one in best condition (I really wouldn't worry about the mileage between the two).
I do love my HUD display though!
the rear window is a common problem but requires a couple of days to repair. many have done it and posted detailed ifo on how to diy however i went with a local windo shop that has a lifetime warranty in case it happens again.
I bought my 99 vert with 71k miles on it 11 months ago and she now has over 110k. If the difference comes down to a HUD i can tell you when i drive my wifes cars i feel lost wihtout it. It is by far a feature that is a must in any vehicle i buy in the future

I would probably go for the lower miles one. Those rear windows in the converts are a piece of cake to fix though.

I would buy the car with the lower miles after I drove both. The window is a common problem so chances are the other car will have the same issue. The window is so easy to fix I even did it.

What options are on each car? I had a '99 and it was a very nice car. The rear window repair can be done relatively cheap - there have been posts on how to fix it yourself here on the forum and I have a copy of the procedure.
