I wanted to pull the codes yesterday, but I could not get the car moved until 4:30 and I was not going to keep the manager there longer then he wanted to stay on a Friday afternoon.
While I like the first guy I took the car to, I think that he was leery of tearing into the LS6. The shop that has it now is very reputable and I think they can find the cause.
The car has always had some noise up top, but, from my readings here and on other sites, I think it is in the acceptable range.
I will report back here with the newest findings (and hopefully not the news that I am having it towed home to raise funds).
I hope so too, I've had a few issues in my time that were somewhat costly but that's what happes when you start modding and something goes wrong.
I thought you stated that your car has heads/cam work done to it. That to me is modded. My Z06 has heads cam and you have to change the springs every couple of years.
Not sure what the lift is on your cam but you might want to check.

Sorry I must have confused your thread with another, as I was bouncing around a bit. None the less I would look at the valve train by pulling off the valve covers.
Also did you ever check for codes ? What ones did you have ?

Found out yesterday - it IS a broken valve spring. They are swapping them as we speak. I just got lucky that the valve did not collide with the piston.

Gotta love it when an amateur mechanic can diagnose the issue over the internet while the pros make up some nonsense about low fuel pressure and a $2500 fuel pump repair. This is why I stopped taking all my cars to the "pros". This kinda stuff really makes my blood boil!

I had a similar drivability issue about 2 years ago. Car idle so rough and died, check light, multiple misfires.
Ended up being a bad MAP sensor at the back of the intake. Sounds weird but a bad one will make it run real rough and throws misfire code.
Cheap part if not a little tough to get to but you should at least give it a try.

Amazed that the car kept running and you were able to drive it. Hard to imagine that the valve did not drop. You have real good luck.
What is the VIN of your car and how many miles are on it?
I assume that your replacing all the springs.

All I can guess is that because I was running at low RPMs that I was saved. Yes, I swapped them all. Will post those numbers tonight.
