Going to non run flats. For those of you who did also, which compressor did you buy? Been on the auction sites looking and looks like about $70.00 for a pretty decent one.

I bought a Z06 compressor kit I carry in my car now for over 4 years and have never needed it.. At least I have it and a nice plug kit.
I bought the Slime kit that includes the portable compressor. It fits into the driver's side storage section in the trunk of my vert. I hope I never have to use it.
I have 2 of these. Each one in a different car. I use it to adjust tire pressure, basketballs and bicycle tires. If you watch for the right coupons you can get it for as much as 50% off. The last one I bought I paid $22 for it.
I have a 2004 Z06 that came with a compressor and plug kit. Hear tell you can still buy them from GM but may have to search for one. I picked up a huge nail in my driver side rear tire next to the sidewall and pluged it and used the compressor in a parking lot of a hotel. The plug in the tire has held for two years now. The compressor saved the day.
Hope this helps some.
I bought the Continental slime and compressor combo, plus a plug kit too. In 2yrs,I've only used the compressor for air only. Hopefully, I didn't just jinx myself. L8R ZFLASH
I have the VIAIR 85p , its fits in the rear cubby hole, it will air up a completely flat tire in less than two minutes with tire on the C5 and is available from AutoAnything , Griots Garage and Ebay. Impressive Compressor.
Have you ever seen the portable Harbor Freight compressor? It's only $8.99 and it appears to be entirely made of plastic. I wouldn't trust it for an emergency situation. I was at HB the other day actually looking for portable compressors and this one was the only one I saw... perhaps you have a different one in mind I didn't see?
Are you guys sure the slime kit will not fail your TPMS sensors? Of course if you need it to get home then it could be worth having to replace.
They make slime that is supposed to be safe for use with cars that have tpms. Apparently it can be cleaned. In the end whatever it takes to get a flat fixed at the moment is priority.

The one I purchased at HF is made of steel/rubber hose.... I keep it in the car. Its almost two and a half years old and works great.
It looks like this:
Good luck with your search, but I'm trying to picture myself on the side of a highway, or some desert road in Arizona, squirming around in the rocks, with the ants, scorpions, spiders and snakes, in 100+ degree temps, trying to get under an already low car, attempting to find a hole to plug so I can be on my way. Actually, I can't imagine it in any location or weather condition! My insurance offers free towing and the ride on my Michelin ZP's is just fine.

I have been looking at this one. Reviews have been very good on it. I have been considering a ZO6 compressor.

I know this conversation is about what type compressor is best, but aren't there run flats that are softer and better performing than the original design? Seems technology has to have addressed the stiff ride of run flats.
Anyway, back to our story.
I've never had occasion to use it in an emergency, but it is used a lot in and around the house for everything inflatable.
Got it from Griot's Garage.

I did the same exact thing. You can find them new on ebay at a decent price.

Me too.
I've done my far share of tire plugs on the side of the highway for my other vehicles and family members. no jacking required just pull it to where you can reach and plug, air up, then drive off! However if it's a catastrophic blowout, call your insurance company and wait for the flatbed towtruck.
