Electronic steering, electronic limited slip differential, direct injection and stiffer frame...not to mention the seats
Oh....and that Camaro rear end
Is that to say it doesn't have a clutch pack LSD? Wonder how well that will work on the track. Those E-LSDs are typically disabled when all the nannies are turned off.
I really don't see Camaro in the rear end. Saying the C7 Corvette looks like a Camaro due to the rectangular tail lights is like saying the Chevrolet Impala or Cobalt looks like a Corvette because it has round tail lights. What I do see is GM moving the ball forward as the C7 is what the C6 should have been.
BTW - I also liked the rectangular late model C4 tail lights better than the round early model C4 tail lights.
Sorry, call me a rebel! I'm just not that hung up on round tail lights. There is just too much "good" in the new C7 for me worry about small cosmetic features that may not be perfect. Plus, the body colored lower rear fascia is an option and IMO makes the rear look better than the black, carbon fiber paint treatment.
Sort of makes you wonder if the Corvette owners back in 1970 were complaining about the rear end of the Corvette looking like a Camaro...
round tails are sexy whether it be a split bumper or vette. a bunch of plastic is BS. i'm ashamed of GM's design dept.. it'll be an awesome car for sure but they need some new talent. this is not a hybrid so don't design it as such.

I do NOT have any issues with the tail lights however, The Corvette had moved to round tail light long before the Camaro ever saw an auto show. Yes the Camaro shown and the Vette both have round TL's but in this case it was the Camaro that followed in the Vettes shoes, so to speak. As for the TL's on the C7, they are enough removed from the Camaro that the comparison is moot. And, if you look at the Chevy lineup this new look seems to be a corporate or at least brand identifier.

I don't like the lower carbon paint finish on the lower section of the rear bumper either, however I read GM is going to offer a body color paint option as well, perhaps on the higher HP versions, which IMO looks better. I think this is still the CF paint treatment, however this picture provides a better idea of how a body-colored rear paint treatment will look.
The OP asked about differences in the platform between C5, C6 & C7
The thread digressed into yet another styling thread with emphasis on tail light discussion...again
To answer the OP, the basic layout remains, however the huge change for the C7 is that the frame is now 100% aluminum
C5 & C6 frames were high strength low alloy steel
With the C7 frame being aluminum, it is 100 pounds lighter and 60 percent stiffer than the steel frames
To commnet on the post above, C7 price hasn't been announced yet, but the word "obtainable" and phrase "no different than base C6" have been used as hints to the price

MSRP starting at 53K, so street price probably 46-48 after the first year hog tax is removed.
Yes, it's sad that even in a thread devoted to the platform changes, it must come down to cosmetic bashing. This car has a zillion new things to get excited about, yet some folks avoid that stuff like the plague.

According to the marketing video, there are a lot of things, such as steering angle, vehicle attitude, etc, which go into the decision to allow slip or not. I don't recall exactly which video, but Tadge did mention that in low detail as to how it works and when. Might go check all the vids in the C7 section, it'll be in there.
Any hear anything about the suspension? Leaf springs still?
Yes, they are still using the transverse leaf springs, the base suspension won't have/need a rear sway bar with the set-up they now have, although the step-up and Z51 will keep the rear sways
