Are all 3 based on nearly the same platform - meaning Frame / Torque Tube ... Layout ?
or is the C7 something entirely new ? (I doubt it)
I saw zip info about it the released info so far - thou I didn't look EVERYWHERE ...
and
7 speed Manual Trans - new
Active Fuel Management - new to corvette (8 to 4 cylinder) like the GM 5.3's of 2007 +
All New Digital dash gages - no needle instruments

I was really hoping that the new GM would lose the guy who designed the Pontiac Aztec so that they could get back to the smooth round lines that the corvette deserves. To me the C7 just looks like a small camaro. Sharp jutty lines that don't flow. Oh well, there will be plenty of guys that like them. With all the new tech stuff I know I will not be interested. The C5 already has too much computer crap for me.
Finally saw a full video (five actually, in the C7 section) today, and IMO its gorgeous, including the rear. Love it.
Its similar, in many ways but different in more ways than that. Lotta new tech (not gadgets.....different materials, aluminum frame, VVT, carbon fiber, 8/4cyl).
Makes me regrect buying the Caddy SRX, I could have held off and got one of these (not that I need another vette, but if I could only own one, that C7 would be just fine with me ).
I really don't see Camaro in the rear end. Saying the C7 Corvette looks like a Camaro due to the rectangular tail lights is like saying the Chevrolet Impala or Cobalt looks like a Corvette because it has round tail lights. What I do see is GM moving the ball forward as the C7 is what the C6 should have been.
BTW - I also liked the rectangular late model C4 tail lights better than the round early model C4 tail lights.
Sorry, call me a rebel! I'm just not that hung up on round tail lights. There is just too much "good" in the new C7 for me worry about small cosmetic features that may not be perfect. Plus, the body colored lower rear fascia is an option and IMO makes the rear look better than the black, carbon fiber paint treatment.
Sort of makes you wonder if the Corvette owners back in 1970 were complaining about the rear end of the Corvette looking like a Camaro...
Part of the capital expenditure in Bowling Green was to manufacture the frame in house instead of contracting it out and shipping it to BG - - as I recall, it's a $52mm investment at the faciliuty.
I'm not an engineer, but certainly the C5 platform is the foundation for the C6 and fundamentally carried into the C7- however I read somewhere the % of C6 parts that were re-used on the C7 platform and it was a very , very small percentage.
Looking forward to seeing it at the Barrett Jackson this weekend - -it's supposedly on the way from Detroit but haven't been out there yet this week.
Thank you SO much MSG C5 for the photos comparing the various tail lights. Very much appreciated. I had forgotten how similar the 70's Corvette and Camaro tail lights looked. With the C7 and the current Camaro side by side............hmmm, not too much alike are they?

Thanks again. Good job.
No problem. I just think there is so much good in the new C7 to be excited about.
I love it and can't wait for the high performance C7Z? comes out! Damn sexy car!
