Default Time for a looooong trip

I'm moving from So. Cal. to Wisconsin (no, I am not a complete idiot). What awaits me on the other end is a great new house and a serious professional upgrade - no choice I'm afraid.

Anyway, the choice was between having the "Z" shipped, or drive it the 2200 miles....

Easy choice - I'm driving it!

Anyone else take a long road trip like this in their "Z"? Any comments/suggestions? Any problems I might need be aware of? :)

I took a 2500 miles trip last year. I had my wife with me. We had a great and really comfortable ride. Ran about 75 most of the way and was pulling down roughly 27 MPG. Have a great ride.

BTW, welcome to Wisconsin. I have been here 10 years but I am just visiting.

I drove my 01 Z06 on one day trips of 1050, 950, and 650 miles. I did so without mishap or discomfort. Actually each trip was FUN.

I can offer only one piece of serious advice. Make sure run with a Valentine One.

A second minor point if you are risk-averse. Make sure you have a cell phone, because you'll need to call for a flatbed if a flat tire loses a good bead with the wheel. This is because the fix-a-flat kit won't restore a viable bead. Small risk. Few have had that problem.

Have fun and let us know how it goes.

Cool,

I'm going to be driving the Dallas to Chicago to Detroit route on the 29th... Thought I'd take the Vette... I think its about 1400 miles each way...

Have the V1, any other tips?

When I take the Z on a Sunday trip( for a Few hours) I drive 250 miles straight without stopping, and the car is a pleasure . Taking her down to Fla. from NY this August, wish it was route 66. Have Fun :D
