Searched for an hour to no avail. I had a C4 that did this and now the C5 I just bought is the same. I have a vertical scratch on my drivers door glass just about even with the mirror. I am ordering a new glass as it is really bugging me and I am about to have the windows tinted. If anyone knows what is causing this I would like to know so I can change the part while I am in there changing the window.
I have the same thing on the driver's side, only a little more towards the middle of the window. I thought it might be caused by a roller or something inside the door, but haven't taken it apart.
I am thinking that these scratches are a little too deep for polishing. Fingernail catches on them quite a bit. And will need to correct whatever the culprit is to eliminate it happening to a new glass. Never opened up a vette door panel but on many cars there are "pads" mounted on adjustable brackets. The pads wear out and it is "metal to glass" contact. Don't know what a vette has in there.

It's just what you said, i had a c-4 that did the same thing. Its the window guides, the felt wears out down to the metal, and scratches your windows.
So if this is caused by the guides, how can you prevent it from happening again? Getting a whole new regulator or something?
I actually have to replace my passenger side window regulator anyway but I'm just curious because both my drivers and passenger have scratches all over the place!

How much is a replacement glass, and who's the best bet to get one from? I've got a nice big scratch down the middle of my driver's side window.
Fleabay has several. I inquired about a few and they have said there are "small imperfections". Not sure what that means. Will try to get more definitive answers but if I have to go new to get one without major blemishes I will.
Ordered a good used window from vettenuts. Went out to "investigate" the source of the scratch. The window sweeps "looked" to be in good shape and pliable but I put a wedge between the window and door and soon found out that the sweeps are VERY hard. Right where the scratch is I found something protruding from the seal and it too is very hard. Not sure if that actually scratched the glass or dirt or sand that got between there. Ordered a new set of sweeps or seals also. $85 with shipping and the drivers will be easy to change since I will have the window out but I also read that they can be change by simply rolling the window all the way down. When they come in I will report back.
For those without scratches at this point on a 10-16 year old car, I recommend checking yours to see if they are still pliable. If not, change them. Much cheaper and easier than changing them AND the door glass.
We have some nice glass in stock. The ones that have scratches we discard. The one we sold the op was in near perfect condition. However to say a used glass is in perfect condition can be picked apart by anyone, so we say with light blemishes.
If its not nice enough for my personal car than it does not ship!
Yes, the weatherstrip on the outside of the glass that runs the full length of the door. Not sure I can link them without getting a hand slap. I ordered from Rock Auto but these are the OEM part #'s 10313421, 10313420
