Default Thanking The Corvette Gods

I am 2 days away from getting a boat load of goodies installed on my 2000 FRC so I decided to drive her to work seeing as how I won't have her for at least a week. In a few days I will have a Vararam Intake System, LS6 Intake Manifold, Lingenfelter GT2-3 Cam, LG Street Long Tubes, MGW Short Shifter, and Dual Tip Borla Cat Back all installed at one time.

On the long drive to work I decided to do a little fast driving just to hold me over for the week, and all of the sudden my clutch starts to slip. AHHHH!!!!!! OH No.....

Here's another $830 to the Corvette Gods....Centerforce Clutch Kit, & a Billet Steel Flywheel.

On the good side this did happen right at the time I was going to have the car torn apart and not while I was out of town so can you really complain?

Don't forget the 800 dollars in labor to drop the cradle, and install the clutch flywheel and pressure plate.. also make sure you put a new slave and master and a remote bleeder.. this is another 350 dollars. Be careful also to make sure the new flywheel matches the balance of the original flywheel because the engine is balanced using the flywheel where specific weights are placed to balance the engine.

On the good side this did happen right at the time I was going to have the car torn apart and not while I was out of town so can you really complain?
Please take what I say to heart, or you will be doing it over again. You can get a balanced LS7 clutch kit including flywheel where all you have to do is take the weighs out of the original flywheel and put them in the same place on the LS7 flywheel. Don't forget the new slave and master. the sale comes with a throwout bearing. Contact Gene Cully at GM Parts house for the LS7 kit and proper slave and master.
Good Luck

I actually am pretty lucky because my best friend that I grew up with is a service guy at my local Chevy dealership so I know all the guys. My mechanic there is charging $400 for labor.

Best of luck with all the changes to the car. Hope all goes well - you should have a really nice improvement in the performance when you are done.

what you have here is about 25/30 hours work.. GM dealerships are charging 100 an hour for non warranty work.. unless your friend is doing this on his own time you cant get 25/30 hours worth of work at a GM dealership for 400 dollars. Mechanics do not set the price on work in the shop at a GM dealership. Each bay in the shop is suppose to make the rate in order to keep the lights on.
